Phone Number Formats for SMS (E.164)

Correct number formatting is the simplest way to improve delivery. eSMS Africa expects recipients in international E.164 format.

Formatting rules

• Include the country code (e.g. 254 for Kenya, 234 for Nigeria, 256 for Uganda).
• Drop the leading 0 of the local number.
• Digits only — no spaces, dashes or plus depending on the API field.
• Example: local 0712 345678 in Kenya becomes 254712345678.
